Chess Grandmasters Lead Book Drive at Chicago School

It is not often that you see a chess grandmaster at a Chicago Public School. But on November 10, 2006, the top 2 chess grandmasters in the U.S., Alex Onischuk and Yury Shulman, came to visit a Chicago School as part of a book drive. GM Alex Onischuk won the U.S. Championship last March, while GM Shulman won the recent U.S. Open. The book drive was led by Dr. Kiran Frey of the Barrington Chess Foundation. Over 1,000 books were donated by Dr. Frey to the school.
