The Chess Academy now offers a complete curriculum for teachers in grades 3-12 wishing to integrate chess into their classrooms. For more information on the Chess Academy Curriculum please visit: Chess in the Elementary Classroom Curriculum

Many studies have linked chess programs to improved scores in reading and math, as well as improved self-esteem. We believe that chess instruction should exist in all schools. With the USCF Chess in Education Committee recently having created a website for K-12 educators wishing to incorporate chess into the school curriculum, teachers are now able to download chess lesson plans and use them in the classroom. These lessons are designed for use in the classroom as part of the regular instructional curriculum. They may also be used as part of an after-school chess program. Also, please see the Chess Academy's own Chess in the Elementary Classroom Curriculum for integrating chess in the classroom.
The lesson plans website for K-12 educators is located at: http://www.thechessacademy.org/Resources_for_Educators.htm.
In order to access these lesson plans we ask that you join the U.S. Chess Federation. You may join the U.S. Chess Federation online by going to: U.S. Chess Federation Membership.
Reports from Teachers on How Chess Impacts Students
“We face in our modern, splintered world not only a crisis in education, but more pointedly a crisis of understanding - of thought and of willingness to engage in thought. Thinking tools like chess, help our minds expand, grow comfortable with abstraction and learn to navigate complex systems.” From the book "The Immortal Game" by David Shenk.
