Chess is a dynamic tool for differentiated instruction as it addresses all of Bloom's Taxonomy of Higher Thinking Skills, as well as Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. Many studies have linked chess programs to improved scores in reading and math, as well as improved self-esteem.

Some sample lessons from the Chess Academy's "Chess Math and Extended Response Curriculum" are available below for preview. The Chess Academy has also created a Chess, Math and Extended Response Workbook. This is a new and improved version of the Chess and Math Lessons. The Chess, Math and Extended Response Workbook is also available in Spanish (Currículo de Matemáticas y Ajedrez en Español). The cost is $15.00 for each workbook.
